Why Imagine Drama?
Drama helps children to make sense of the world around them.
Learning through stories and play
Stories are a great way to introduce your little ones to role play and characters. Younger children especially enjoy repetition and simple narrative. This is why they often ask for the same story over and over! Each class is designed around a story, the characters and simple plot lines are used as a springboard for the creative journey we can go on.
Children from the age of 3 begin to develop a more sophisticated imagination. Often modern toys don’t explicitly allow children to be independently creative. Who remembers building a den as a child with their mother’s best bed sheets? Sessions include various strange and often seemingly useless props; toilet rolls, silver foil, potato mashers and cardboard boxes with the help of a little imagination become telescopes, space helmets, magic wands and space rockets. At Imagine Drama we encourage finding the magical in the ordinary!
We really enjoy coming to Imagine Drama, Anna is very engaging with the children and the stories and the props are fantastic for the little ones’ imaginations. I’ve been taking my son who’s nearly 3 to classes since he was a baby and now he is that bit older it’s been harder to find a class that keeps him engaged. He really enjoys the class and has fun dressing up and acting out. Highly recommended!
Anna’s classes are fantastic – she’s warm, kind and a ball of infectious energy – the kids can’t help but get caught up in her engaging stories, fun games and wild imagination. The classes are also very physical which is great for burning off small perdon energy. My 4-year old loves going and we both highly recommend!
We attended the Halloween event hosted by Imagine Drama – it was fab! The kids had a great time exploring the sensory areas, joining in the drama class conjouring spells, making spooky biscuits and dancing around. Anna had organised a wonderful event and every effort was made to entertain and engage the children. It was great family fun.
